March 23, 2001WAUKESHA, WI-- Funeral services will be held Monday, March 26, for Helen Davel, who died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Avalon Manor. She was born Dec. 31, 1907, in Kanawha, Iowa, to Albert and Sarah (Fairbrother) Severin. Mrs. Davel was educated at Whitewater Teachers College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education. During her teaching career she was employed by the Palmyra School System and also taught at Whittier Elementary and Heyer Elementary schools in Waukesha. She was married to H.J. Davel, who was the principal at Whittier Elementary School from 1954 until his death in 1972. Mrs. Davel was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Friends Circle, Waukesha County Retired Teachers Association and Palmyra Historical Society. She was a past member of the Waukesha Women's Club.
She is survived by a nephew, William F. Severin of Minnesota, and cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold John Davel; her sister, Gretchen June Severin; brothers, Albert and Donald Severin; and nephews, Ronald and Albert Severin.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, at Hillside Cemetery in Palmyra; meet at 9 a.m. at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., for funeral procession to the cemetery. The Rev. Frank Gaylord is officiating. Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice are appreciated.
