Orvin A. Baxter, 73, of Rt. 2, Barron, Wisconsin died Monday evening at the Northland Care Center in Rice Lake. He was born Sept. 2, 1910 at Dows, Iowa and was married Oct. 19, 1931 to Virginia Ehrler at Rockford, Illinois. He was a housebuilding-contractor in Rockford until 1958 when he and his wife moved to Conrath, where they owned and operated the Whispering Pines Resort until 1970. He then purchased the Dinner Bell Restaurant at Trego, which he operated until 1980. They retired to Nelson Lake at Hayward where they resided until 1982 when they moved to Barron.

He is survived by his wife Virginia of Rt. 2, Barron; 2 sons, Gaylord of Cherry Valley, Illinois and Gerald of Cotton, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Darla) Colvin of Barron; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Keegan of Loves Park, Illinois. Cremation will occur at the Eau Claire Memorial Crematory, with burial at the Highland Garden of Memories at Belvidere, Illinois.
