Nellie L. Oberheu (1912-2008)

PLAINFIELD, Iowa -- Nellie L. Oberheu, 95, of Plainfield, died Tuesday, June 10, at Community Nursing Home, Clarksville. She was born Sept. 25, 1912, in Bremer County, daughter of Edward and Minnie Briggs Zwanziger. She married Adolph H. Oberheu on Oct. 15, 1930, in Eagle Grove. He died Nov. 20, 1990. Mrs. Oberheu farmed with her husband in Bremer County for 40 years before retiring to Plainfield. She cooked for L & D Tap and also was a cook at the Plainfield school.

Survived by: a daughter, Jeanette (Howard) Schluter of Nashua; a son, Loren (Chris) of Janesville; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Zwanziger of Waverly; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: a son, James; a brother, Edward Zwanziger; and three sisters, Ruth Hansen, Marry Henniges and Nettie Dietz.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church/Western Douglas, rural Plainfield, with burial in Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua, and for an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials: may be directed to the family.
