LUTHRO, LERDAL, KOENECKE, FELLER

Robert L. "Bob" Luthro, 77, of Dubuque, died peacefully Friday, May 30, 2008, at home surrounded by his adoring family. A brief memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where friends may call following the services from 4 to 6 p.m.

He was born on Sept. 11, 1930, in Denhart, Iowa, the oldest of five children born to Hans and Myrtle (Lerdal) Luthro. Bob was raised in the Eagle Grove, Iowa, area. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, and graduated from the University of Iowa. Bob and his wife, Alice, moved to Dubuque in 1960, and established Future Employment Service, the business he owned and operated until 1993. He retired to allow for more days at the cottage and more time at the Iowa football games. Bob had wonderful memories with his many friends and family.

Surviving are his wife, Alice, of Dubuque; six children, Polly Luthro and Jon Luthro, both of Portland, Ore., James Luthro, of Dubuque, Jay (Jackie) Luthro, of Changsha, China, Joel (Lori) Luthro, of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Anne Luthro, of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; a brother, John (Bobbie) Luthro, of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary (Dick) Feller, of Mesa, and Naomi Koenecke, of Estherville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lois Koenecke.

Memorial contributions are not necessary, but may be given to Wendt Cancer Treatment Center, Dubuque Humane Society and Hospice of Dubuque. Thank you to all who have traveled with us and eased our way.
