Phyllis V. Elwood
Phyllis Virginia Butz, the daughter of Jonathan and Maude (Kepler), was born on April 9, 1924, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She attended schools in the area of her birth. On January 23, 1947, Phyllis was united in marriage to Marvel Elwood in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The couple lived in Goldfield where they farmed for Bob Stryker for many years. They moved to Eagle Grove in the early 1960’s, where Marvel was employed by Earl Hanson John Deere Implement. Phyllis was a former member of the Goldfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds as well as having friends stop by her house for coffee. Most of all she enjoyed the company of family and friends.
Phyllis passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008, at Care Age of Clarion at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvel Elwood in 1972; infant daughter, Arlene Marie Elwood; grandson, Scotty Joe Mosher; one sister, Bernice Johnson; and four brothers, Clifford, Kenneth, Keith, and Burdette Butz. Survivors include her children, Woody Elwood of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Carolyn Mosher of Algona, Iowa, and Randy Elwood of Eagle Grove, Iowa; six grandchildren, Brian and Cory Mosher, Duann Witt, and Cody, Kaitlyn and Kelsey Elwood; and three great-grandchildren, Tylor Jondal Witt, and Taylon and Landon Elwood.
