Webster City, IA -- Matie Ackerman, 100, formerly of Dows, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at the Southfield W.C. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Doug Tiffany officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Foster Funeral & Cremation Center, Webster City.

Matie Ackerman, 100, of Webster City, a former rural Dows area resident, died Monday, March 27, 2006 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Doug Tiffany officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the services at the funeral home. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Matie Bertha Beyer, daughter of Fred and Klasine Heiden Beyer, was born January 13, 1906 on a farm near Dows. She attended Vernon Township #9 school near Dows. After her father's death, she helped care for her mother for several years. She moved to Southfield August 24, 2004.

Mrs. Ackerman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Geraldine Ackerman of Blairsburg; grandsons and their wives, Dennis and Susan Ackerman of Boone; Jeff and Mary Ackerman of Florissant, MO; Dwight and Becky Ackerman of Clear Lake; great-grandchildren, Kathy Huse, Jessica and Dan Ackerman; great-great-grandchildren, Ali Jo, Andrea and Alicia Huse; sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Walter Detmer of Williams; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Norma Beyer of Dows; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother, Lawrence Beyer; sister, Elsie Otteros; a brother and sister, in infancy.

She was a member of the Vernon Lutheran Church, her interests were photography, her cats and she enjoyed time spent with her family.
