Steven Gerald Meineke 55, of 18454 Andrew Jackson Ave, Prairieville, LA., died suddenly at his home on May 4. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 10 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Iowa City. A private burial will be at Memory Gardens in Iowa City. Visitation will be Friday evening from 4 - 6 p.m. at St. Thomas More.

Steve was born May 24, 1952, in Alexandria, LA., the son of Gerald and Sadie Maubach Meineke. He was a graduate of Dows (Iowa) High School and Loras College, Dubuque, IA. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Leach, December 29, 1973. They were blessed with 3 children. He was employed at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for thirty years until relocating to Prairieville in December 2005. Steve was employed at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System as an AIX Administrator. He was a man of many talents and interests. He loved to cook for his friends and family, talk baseball, listen to music, read books and travel with his wife.

Steve is survived by his wife Carolyn of Prairieville; sons Christopher (Traci), and Scott, and daughter Lindsey, all of Iowa City; his parents Gerald and Sadie of Rogers, AR; siblings Bernard (Sally) of Marietta, GA; Mary (Steve) Schmidt of Norwalk, IA; John (Brenda) of Muscatine, IA; Mark of Popejoy, IA, and numerous nephews. Also surviving are his mother-in-law Alice (Paul) Christensen, of Belmond, IA; sister-in-law Paulette Bridges (Tom Crane) of Dows, IA; and brother-in-law Dennis Leach of Spirit Lake, IA. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, father-in-law Robert Leach, and brother-in-law Robert Bridges.

Steve will be greatly missed by his family, co-workers, and friends whose lives he touched in his short life. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Brave Heart - Children In Need, % Carolyn Meineke, P.O. Box 1591, Prairieville, LA 70769
