HAMPTON - Cynthia (Cindy) Kay Cabrera, 58, of Hampton, passed away at her residence on Friday (April 11, 2008) after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, 306 Central Ave. E. in Hampton with inurnment in the Hampton Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Rev. Tim Platt will officiate the service.

She was born April 6, 1950, in Spencer to Allen and Rhodora (Bogh) Blessing. She graduated from Hampton High School and later graduated from the Registered Nursing Program at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. Cindy married Michael Cabrera in Mason City. She was an RN for 31 years and was the charge nurse for second shift at the Franklin General Hospital. Cindy was a member of the Church of Christ in Clarion.

She enjoyed reading, collecting cow and Coca-Cola memorabilia, tending her flower garden, traveling and spending time with her friends and family. Cindy will always be remembered by those who knew her best for her passion for serving others and how she always put everyone else's needs before her own.

Cindy is survived by her parents, Allen and Rhodora Blessing of Hampton; special friend, Larry Hull of Clarion; daughters, Angie McNamara (Chris Madson) of Blue Earth, Minn., Shanlyn Shafer (Kevin) of Clear Lake and Theresa Hayes of Gladewater, Texas; son, Michael Cabrera II of Hampton; granddaughters Cinder King (Jared), Sally Eveland and Lexi Cabrera; grandsons, Codie and Jake McNamara, Nick Madson, Michael Cabrera III, Logan and Houston Pope, Jarrod Awe, Jacob and Gage Shafer; great-granddaughters, Rylea and Khloe King; sister, Deb Walker (Perry) of Hampton; and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and maternal and paternal grandparents.
