MADISON, Wis. — Walter R. Iliff, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2008 at his home in Madison. He was born on June 17, 1930, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Earl and Esther (Burnham) Iliff. Walter was married to Marilyn Van Nimwegen, of Eagle Grove, Iowa, for 14 years. He was later to married Kay Farrell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa for a few years. Walter graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1947. He received a bachelor’s degree in physics, from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. Walter served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a nuclear veteran. He loved bridge and playing the drums for the community theater. Walter lived the past several months with his son and daughter-in-law, David and Laura, and their children, Maggie and Richard.

He is survived by his four children, David (Laura) Iliff of Madison, Linda (Mark) Evoniuk of Elkton, Ore., Barbara (Todd) Korth of DePere and Jeff (Beth) Iliff of Indianapolis, Ind.; and 11 grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Iliff; and two half-sisters, Elizabeth Webster and Marge Annas. Private family services will be held.
