Services for Horace Dean Westcott were held at Vallejo, Calif. and Denison. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Denison, Feb. 22, officiated by Rev. Alberta Ervin. Horace died Feb. 15, at Stockton, Calif., age 91 years, one month and 21 days.

Born Dec. 24, 1916 at Bellevue Farm east of Woodbine to William Shorland Westcott, a native of Devon, England, and Serena Tucker Westcott. He was the youngest of their seven children. Horace attended Merry Brook School and later, "Brush College" rural school near the Westcott's Westhaven Place Farm near Denison where the family relocated in 1929. Following his graduation from Denison High School, Horace attended Iowa State University receiving a degree in Agricultural Education.

Horace and Marie L. Evers were married June 15, 1941 at Denison. They were the parents of Coleen Marie born at Belmond and Donna Marie in Illinois. Horace had a successful career as a Vocational Agriculture teacher at Belmond and Spirit Lake High Schools and farmed at Westhaven Place with his brother Fred Westcott. A career change as an Equipment Educator with Seedburrow, Massey-Ferguson and Deutz Companies resulted in relocation to seven states for the Westcotts. Their retirement home was at Stockton, Calif.

Horace was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Henry H., George W., Fred P. and Dwight S.; and sisters Emmeline Florence and Emily Louise. Survivors are his wife Marie L. Westcott of Vallejo, Calif., children Coleen Allen Goodwin, Vallejo, California and Donna Baugh, Smithfield, Va. and their husbands; grandchildren Judith and Douglas Peach, Amy Allen and Charlee Baugh; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
