COTTONWOOD, IDAHO--Gladys V. Reigard, a Cottonwood homemaker, died of a heart attack Friday at her home in Cottonwood. She was 89. She was born at Clarion, Iowa, March 29, 1903, the daughter of Henry and Carrie Anfinson Johnson. She attended school at Cambridge, Iowa, and after graduating from high school she attended the Iowa Methodist Nursing Hospital at Des Moines for three years.
She married Max Reigard Sept. 1, 1925, at Adel, Iowa. The couple later moved to Kansas City, and in 1941 they moved to Portland, Ore. They moved to Cottonwood in 1980, where she had lived since. Her husband died Feb. 20, 1983. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Cottonwood and the Cottonwood Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Tacke of Cottonwood; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two sons, a brother and a sister died previously.
A rosary and vigil service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Church in Cottonwood. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's with the Rev. Joseph Muha officiating. Burial will follow at the Cottonwood Catholic Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the St. Mary's Hospital Ambulance fund.
