JACKSONVILLE, IL - Mildred "Milly" Hunt Groves, 88, of Jacksonville, formerly of Waverly and Quincy, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at NBA Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville.

She was born June 7, 1914, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of A. Luther and F. Ethel Ritter Hunt. She married C. Earl Groves in 1945 in Jacksonville; he died in 1962. Mrs. Groves graduated from Waverly Township High School. She worked at J. Capps & Sons Clothiers in Jacksonville. She then trained as an X-ray technician and worked in the radiology department at Passavant Area Hospital, Medical Center Clinic, the TB sanitarium in Jacksonville and Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was a 50-year member of the American Association of Radiology Technicians and the Pythian Sisters. She was a 74-year member of the Waverly Christian Church.

Survivors: two sisters, Eunice Neuman of Waverly and Effie N. Hunt of Terre Haute, Ind.; two nieces; four nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside memorial services: 2 p.m. Nov. 9, Waverly East Cemetery. Gillham-Buchanan Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of the arrangements.
