July 8, 2000CHENOA, IL - Edna Leigh Peterson, 100, of Meadows Mennonite Home, Chenoa, formerly of Pontiac, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday (July 7, 2000) at the nursing home. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at South Side Cemetery, Pontiac, the Rev. Dan Harry officiating. There will be no visitation. Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, has charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Franciscan Hospice of Central Illinois.
She was born Jan. 20, 1900, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, a daughter of George and Ella Mae Baker. She married Elmer G. Peterson on Jan. 1, 1927, at Webster City, Iowa. He died Dec. 30, 1966. Survivors include one son, Roger (Sharon) Peterson, Pontiac; two daughters, Janet (Bill) Snider, Pontiac; and Doris Wiles, Chenoa; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Three brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
Mrs. Peterson was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pontiac. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and of White Shrine.
