EVELYN DEWITT, 94, Homemaker

WINTER HAVEN, Florida -- Mrs. Evelyn I. DeWitt of Winter Haven died of cancer Friday (March 31, 2006) at Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale. She was 94.

Born Jan. 26, 1912, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mrs. DeWitt moved to Winter Haven from Goldfield, Iowa, in 1970. She was a homemaker. She was a Methodist. She served as president of the Winter Haven Elks Auxiliary.

Mrs. DeWitt was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis DeWitt. She is survived by her son, Don DeWitt, Bartow; daughters, Jane Thul and Beth DeWitt, both of Winter Haven; seven grandchildren; 11 great-granddaughters; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Steele's Family Funeral Services, Winter Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Winter Haven Elks Lodge or Good Shepherd Hospice, Auburndale.

Evelyn I. DeWitt, 94, of Winter Haven, died of cancer Friday, March 31, 2006, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. Born on Jan. 26, 1912, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, she moved to the area in 1970.

She was a homemaker of the Methodist faith, a past president of the Winter Haven Elks Auxillary and a member of the Winter Haven Elks Lodge #1672.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis DeWitt and a daughter, Darlene Flieder.

Survivors include a son, Don DeWitt of Bartow; two daughters, Jane Thul and Beth DeWitt, both of Winter Haven; seven grandchildren; 11 great-granddaughters and two great-great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Steele's Family Funeral Service Chapel, with Cissy Richardson officiating. Internment will be in Iowa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winter Haven Elks Lodge or Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
