ANTHONY G. SNEATH

Funeral for Anthony G. Sneath will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Mr. Scott Funeral Home. Mr. Sneath died Friday in a Portland hospital at age 85. Born in Goldfield, Iowa, Mr. Sneath was graduated from Illinois State University at Normal and later moved to Chicago. A violinist and violin teacher, he played with the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, served as music director for various churches in the Chicago area and organized several barbershop quartets. He also attended the Chicago Conservatory of Music. Mr. Sneath worked as the general manager of a Chicago music store, and owned a piano and organ store there. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Southshore Medina Scottish Rite in Chicago, Kiwanis and Phi Mu Alpha Senfonia fraternity. Following his retirement in 1958, Mr. Sneath moved to Portland and continued to pursue his interests in music, the humanities and politics. He devoted the last 28 years to the care of his wife, Patia.

Mr. Sneath is survived by Patia, his wife of 60 years; daughters, Barbara Albright, Donna Stephenson, Sara Mayer and Virginia Levens, all of Portland; and Patia Binner of Orland Park, Ill.; sons, George A. and Richard A., both of Portland; sister, Barbara J. Rohrer of King City; 25 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that remembrances be contributions to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. Vault interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
