Jim Higgins of Grace Lutheran Church at Lewiston will officiate. She died from complications of surgery Monday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center at Lewiston. She was 76.
She was born June 27, 1917, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, to George T. and Chrisse Belle Smith Wardrip. In 1919 the family moved to Weiser, Idaho, where she married Edward N. Hagans July 15, 1937. They moved to Lewiston in February 1946. She worked at Smith's Cannery in 1948 and 1949 and also worked at Cascade Cartridge Inc. (now Blount) for a short time. She worked for many years as a private housekeeper and was well-known for the many yard sales she held over a 31-year period at her Orchards home. She also sold items on consignment for other people. Her husband died March 20, 1990. She was member of the Eagles Auxiliary at Lewiston, Women of the Moose at Clarkston and a former member of Ladies of the Elks at Lewiston. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing cards, cooking and canning, gardening and housekeeping and visiting with her neighbors and friends. She was engaged to be married Aug. 28 to Frank Lucas of Lewiston.
Survivors include a son, Eddie Hagans of Moscow; two brothers, Milford G. Wardrip of Lewiston and John W. Roehl of Salmon, Idaho; and a sister, Bernadine (Dean) E. Rich of Weiser. A sister, Mary Owens, died previously.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the Arthritis Foundation or to the American Heart Association. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home at Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
