William Ray "Willy" Covington Jr., 46, of Franklin, Ga. passed away on Saturday (April 19, 2008) at the Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., as the result of a motorcycle accident. Memorial services were held on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the home of Ray and Shirley Covington in Goodell, Iowa.
William Ray "Willy" Covington Jr. was born on Jan. 5, 1962, in Linn County, Iowa to William Ray Covington Sr., and Shirley Jean Tate Covington. He was a 1980 graduate of Belmond High School in Belmond. He was a pipe liner for the International Operators Union Local No. 926. His family attended the Franklin United Methodist Church.
He was a loving husband, son, and father. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Justine Lockwood Covington, of Franklin, Ga.; two daughters, Jennifer Hammel, of Latimer, and Betty Jean Covington, of Franklin, Ga.; four sons, Logan Hammel of Clarion, Brandon Manning of Franklin, Ga., Brent Manning of Franklin, Ga., and William Ray "Brew" Covington III., of Franklin, Ga.; his parents, William "Ray" Covington Sr. and Shirley Jean Covington, of Goodell; two sisters, Laurie Winfrey of Ames, and Rhonda Wenzel of Belmond; two brothers, Randy Covington, of Eldon, Mo., and Larry Covington, of Stone Ridge, Va.; one granddaughter, Amaya Hammel. Arrangements were with Tom Stutts and Son Funeral Home in Franklin, Ga.
