E. A. Graham, 75, Dies Sunday

This community was saddened Sunday afternoon when it was learned that Ed Graham had passed away at 3 o'clock at his home in south Lake Park. Mr. Graham had been in failing health for the last two years, but kept at his task as city weighmaster until the first of this month, a position he had ably filled for the last fourteen years. At the time of his passing he was 75 years, 3 months and 9 days of age. Mr. Graham had lived in this community for thirty-five years, and in this period had contributed his full share to its progress and prosperity. He was always keenly interested in politics and civic affairs in general. He was a good neighbor and a true friend, and the bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community in their hour of sorrow. In this last severe illness of nineteen days, he was given all the care that loving hands could administer, and his going leaves a place in the home circle that never can be filled.

Edward A. Graham was born in Hardin county, Iowa, on Feb. 10, 1865, his parents being Harrison and Katherine Graham. He grew to manhood in southern Hardin county, and on March 20, 1887 he was united in marriage to Carrie Jones, and to this union four children were born: Frank I. and Raleigh A. of Lake Park; Mrs. Isola Dillon of Hubbard, Ia., and Mrs. Mabel Berger of Lake Park. These four children, with his beloved wife, are left to mourn the passing of a kind and loving husband and father. He also leaves two sisters: Mrs. Nellie Mossman of Ames, Ia., and Mrs. Stella Clingermand of New Providence, Ia. ALso six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who will miss his kindly greetings and pleasant smile.

A short time ago Mr. Graham's brother-in-law Rev. Orlando Mossman and his two sisters Nellie and Stella visited him, and during this visit he made his peace with his Saviour, and now awaits the coming of loved ones on the other shore.

In 1904, Mr. Graham bought a farm in Excelsior township, improved it, and in 1905 moved with his family from hubbard and lived on this farm until 1913, when he bought the present home in Lake Park and moved here.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church with the pastor Rev. R. J. Blue officiating at the last rites. Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Burns sang "Some Day We Will Understand" and "The Lights of Home." The profusion of floral tributes attested to his high esteem in the community. Pall bearers were Bert Buzley of Harris, Robert Herbert, Earl Rowe, J. W. Emerson, Leslie Rowe, and Glen Dieterich. Interment was in the family lot in Silver Lake cemetery.

Out of the fulness of our hearts we extend our heartfelt appreciation of all the acts of helpfulness and words of sympathy bestowed upon us during the illness and since the death of our beloved husband and father. The memory of them will linger with us along the years. We thank you one and all.

Mrs. E. A. Graham and family.
