Mrs. Ruby Blanche Shaunce Moon, was born on July 9, 1901 at Stockton, Mo., the daughter of George and Ida Rowland Shaunce. Mr. Shaunce came to Eagle Grove to work and Mrs. Shaunce and Ruby moved to Eagle Grove in August, 1901 by train. She grew up and attended school in Eagle Grove. She joined the First Baptist Church in 1913, where during her life, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was president of the Mission Society. She was united in marriage with Dennis H. Moon on June 9, 1920 in the city hall apartment, where her parents lived while her father was the Fire Chief and truck driver.
She is survived by her son, Herbert Moon of Corwith; her daughter, Betty, Mrs. Ralph Cleveland of Eagle Grove; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Georgia, Mrs. Howard Morgan and a brother, Arthur Dean Shaunce.
Mrs. Moon died on Friday, June 24, 1983 at the Hamilton County Public Hospital in Webster City at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 15 days. Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Moon, 81, of Eagle Grove, were held on Monday, June 27, 1983, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott Hall, church pastor and Rev. Arthur Anderson, formerly of Eagle Grove officiated. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Sunday.
