Harold William Smith, 91, died December 3, 2003 at the State Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 6 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center with Rev. Gary MacManus officiating. Interment will follow in hillside Cemetery in State Center.

Harold was born June 13, 1912 to Ed and Susie Hart Smith on the family farm at Colo. he was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Collins High School in 1930. He was married to Lois Eckhart on February 6, 1937 at St. Paul Lutheran Church parsonage by Rev. Schulz. Harold farmed all of his life on the family farm. He retired in 1985 and he and Lois moved to State Center. In February of 2001 they moved to Marshalltown to Bickford Cottage, and had just recently moved to State Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He is survived by his wife, Lois three children, Jim (Meryle) Smith of Colo, Linda (John) Greenlee of Davenport and Brenda Smith of Harmony House in Cedar Falls. Also surviving are five grandchildren seven great-grandchildren a brother, Kenneth Smith of Tama a sister, Florence Geer of Colo and a sister, Zola Duffy of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers, Howard and Gen and one sister, Helen (Swanson) Moore.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wensel Perrin Funeral Home in State Center with the family present at this time. A memorial fund is being established.
