Garth W. Lindsey, 84, died March 31, 2008 at Parkridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Pleasant Hill. Services were held April 2 at Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard with burial at the Hubbard Cemetery. A flag ceremony was provided by the Hubbard American Legion.

Garth Wilbur was born October 3, 1923 in Rowan, Iowa one of three children born to Clarence and Eva (Steffens) Lindsey. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Rowan High School in 1941. He was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines and Japan during WWII. He was discharged as a Master Sergeant. On September 12, 1953 Garth married Margaret Broer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in various places throughout the Midwest as Garth spent 36 years working for the railroad as a train dispatcher and in the power bureau. Garth was a Mason, a member of the American Legion, a member of the Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock, and a former member of Kiwanis International. He was passionate about fishing, traveling and the Chicago Cubs.

Garth was preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy Beth Gram; and daughter-in-law Angela Lindsey. Survivors include his wife of Altoona; daughter Joyce (Don) Ramus of Altoona; son Gary of Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and brother Merle of Eldora.
