Kampe Scholte, 77, of Alden, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2006, at the Heritage Care Center, Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at the Linn’s Funeral Chapel, Iowa Falls, with the Rev. Stephen Acheson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel. Military honors will be provided by the Elliott-Keninger American Legion Post No. 252, Ackley.

Kampe Ernest Scholte was born Aug. 3, 1928, at Dougherty, the son of Kampo Harm and Grace (Kramer) Scholte. He was baptized at St. Peter’s Reformed Church, rural Wellsburg. He attended the Waterloo Community Schools through the ninth grade and received his general education degree from Marshalltown Community Schools. Kampe served with the U.S. Army from Feb. 11, 1952, until Jan. 8, 1954, during the Korean conflict, receiving three bronze service battle stars. He worked as a milk truck route man around Ackley, then owned Kampe’s Place in Ackley. He then drove a truck for Ackley Food Products, Ackley, and when they closed, he drove a truck for Umthum Trucking, Eagle Grove, for 10 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the First Church of God, where he had served on the board of directors, a 41-year paid up for life member of the Elliott-Keninger American Legion Post No. 252, Ackley, and a life member of the Roll-Harless Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3974, Eldora.

He was married to Miriam L. Miller on Feb. 23, 1950, in rural Wellsburg; they were later divorced. On May 19, 1979, he was united in marriage to Anna Mae Doane Clark at Alden.

Kampe Scholte is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Scholte of Alden; his children, Emily Ubben and husband Michael of Ackley, Kalvin Scholte and wife Theresa of Ackley, Ronald Clark and friend Dawn Schlachter of Alden, and Andrew Clark of Gilbertville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Ollie Scholte of Ackley; and his sister-in-law, Gay Scholte of the Netherlands. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kampo and Grace Scholte; an infant son, Robert Scholte; and one brother, Kampo H. Scholte.
