Irene Bernadine Watt was born on July 19, 1918 at her home in Dows, Iowa to Theodore and Lillian Korth, the second oldest of five siblings; Theodore, Jr, Linnae, Bernadine and Marcella. She graduated from Dows High School in 1934. After high school, she worked at the hatchery in Dows. Irene was united in marriage to Russell LaRue in Princeton, Missouri and had a daughter, Norene. Russell was killed in WWII in the South Pacific. On March 19, 1947, Irene married Robert Watt in Clear Lake, Iowa. They had two sons, Steve and Jim. The couple made their home near Dows, where they farmed. In 1964 they moved to a farm north of Armstrong, Iowa, where they farmed and raised their family until they retired to Milford in 1984, where they resided since. They enjoyed gardening, playing bingo and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Irene passed away Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Milford Nursing Center in Milford at eighty-seven years of age. She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Milford; daughter Norene and her husband, Marlin of Hampton, Nebraska; sons, Steve and his wife Patricia of Estherville and Jim and his wife Wendy of Milford; sister-in-law, Mabel Ackerman of Dows; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters.
