Olga Rose (Loeffler) Rogalla was born to German immigrant parents, Margaret (Groh) and Fred Loeffler on Nov. 3, 1920, in Kanawha. Olga was the third child in a family of six brothers and sisters. Olga attended rural school through junior high before the family moved to Chicago, Ill. During her family's early years in Chicago, prior to her marriage, she worked in a bakery and in a hosiery factory. Olga was united in marriage to Paul Rogalla on July 8, 1939, in Chicago. The couple moved to Belmond in 1946. During her many years in the community of Belmond, Olga worked as a cook in several local restaurants. Olga also worked with Paul in the family painting and wallpapering business. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last July. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ELCW ladies circles. She always looked forward to preparing chicken and biscuits at the annual church bazaar. Olga's greatest love, next to her family, was gardening, with which she would spend time canning and trying new recipes. She reached out to many families in the community in their own times of grief. For this, Olga will always be remembered.
