BELMOND — Duane A. Slining, 74, of Belmond, died Wednesday (March 4, 1998) at Belmond Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Reformed Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Robert Ford, officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Duane A. Slining was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Belmond. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Slining, Belmond; three daughters, Margo Slining, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Dawn Slining, of Boone, and Darla Schmit, of Plymouth, Minn.; three sons, Darwin Slining, of Granger, Dwight Slining, of Marshalltown, and Mark Slining, of Dows, 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Mildred Macri, of Des Moines, Arlene Davis, of Harlan, Joann Kuester, of Belmond, and Janet Thornton, Huxley; three brothers, Glen Slining, of Silverton, Ore., Bob Slining, of Belmond, and Harry Slining Jr., Babbitt, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one daughter.
