31 May 2001CLEAR LAKE - Mercene E. Buck, 90, died Tuesday (May 29, 2001) at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, with Alden Jandebeur officiating. Burial will be held in Memorial Park. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services at Fullerton Funeral Home.
Mercene was born on Sept. 18, 1910, the daughter of Ole and Maude (Thomas) Ingebritson in Dows. In 1928 Mercene was united in marriage to Clyde Buck and they continued to live in Mason City. Mercene was a member of the First Christian Church in Mason City and a past member of Tina Rebekah Lodge. Her true joy in life was taking care of her family, friends and one little friend of 17 years named Molly. Molly was a poodle that would accompany Mercene on her long walks until she was too tired, leaving Mercene to carry her home. At the age of 65 Mercene could be found mowing her lawn, sewing for others, quilting and making afghans.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bonnie Simon and her husband, Arnold, of Clear Lake; one granddaughter, Laurie Jilek and her husband, Robert, of St. Peters, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Tad, Collin and Madison Jilek, of St. Peters, Mo.; two step-grandchildren, Patricia Brinkman, of Clear Lake, and Gene Simon, of Calmar; and a special friend, Merle Tatum, of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 1973; two brothers, Kenneth and Floyd Ingebritson; and one brother-in-law, Raymond Buck. Fullerton Funeral Home.
