Muriel M. Licklider, 87, of Clarion, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Careage of Clarion after a brief respiratory illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1 at the Ewing Funeral Home in Clarion. Pastor Don Morrison will officiate the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery, Rowan. Visitation will be held at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, Clarion, one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Muriel Marie Rietz was born January 3, 1921 in Rowan. She was raised in the Rowan area and graduated from Rowan High School in 1938. In 1946, she married Wayne Licklider and they were married for 42 years. They lived briefly in St. Louis, moved back to Rowan, and then to Clarion in 1965. Muriel loved her home, family and music.

She is survived by her children-Sheila Flatebo and husband, Alvin and Dale Licklider and wife, Kathy, all of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Pauline Licklider of Winterset and Jean Rietz of southeast Iowa; a brother-in-law, Everett Smith of Pennsylvania; two nieces; three nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; two sisters, Anne and Nina; and three brothers, Karl, E.A. and Paul.
