MESA, Ariz. — Dorothy E.Trafford, 83, of 7950 E. Keats, Apt. 150, Mesa, Ariz., died Sunday (Dec. 2, 2007) at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa. A memorial service will be held later.

Dorothy was born in Dows on Dec. 9, 1923, the daughter of Dewey and Jane (Myers) Moore. Dorothy graduated from Dows High School in 1941 as valedictorian of her class. She worked as a secretary for a number of years in Hampton, Des Moines and Prescott, Ariz. She married Elzia Smith in 1947 and he died in 1951. Her second marriage was to Loren Tinkey in 1952 and he died in 1960. Dorothy married William E. Trafford on Sept. 18, 1961, in Hampton. They lived in Mason City, Charles City and Newton before settling in Prescott, Ariz. They retired to Mesa, Ariz., in 1992.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, William Trafford of Mesa, Ariz.; a son, Todd Trafford of Washington D.C.; daughter, Lone (Ray) Sable of Valdosta, Ga. Also grandchildren, Ann Elise Trafford, Rachel, Sarah and Hannah Sable. Dorothy was a big sister to six younger brothers. Surviving are William (Mary) Moore of Mason City, Richard (Lisa) Moore of Independence, Iowa, and Larry (Janis) Moore of Waterloo. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother, Donavan, in 1935, brother, Jerry, in 1955, and brother, Eldon, in 2006. Also her first husband, Elzia Smith, in 1951 and her second husband, Loren Tinkey, in 1960.
