Eddie F. Petersen, 92, veteran and machinist

Eddie Franklin Petersen, the son of Peter B. and Florence Bell (Miller) Petersen, was born February 14, 1915, in Spencer, Iowa. He attended school in Sioux Valley, Minn., graduating with the class of 1933. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1943. He married Merline L. Miller on October 2, 1943, in Galesburg, Ill. He was a machinist for the MA Ford Tool and Die Company. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family.

Eddie Petersen died at his home on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at the age of 92 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Franklin Edward Petersen; two brothers, Chic Petersen and Orville Strohman; and a sister, Isla Miller Wilhelmi. Survivors include his wife, Merline Petersen of Eagle Grove; children: Mary Greif, and husband, Gordon, of Eagle Grove, Morris Petersen, and wife, Melinda, of Goldfield, Roger Petersen, and wife, Eva, of Wooster, Ohio, Virginia Pina, and husband, Horace, of San Diego, Calif., and Gloria Wilson, and husband, Rod, of Bozeman, Mont.; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Rogers of Davenport; sister-in-law, Mary Petersen of Eagle Grove; and several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be at a later date.
