Mary Ann Olson, the daughter of Michael and Margaret (Bichler) Schiele, was born July 27, 1920, in Linton, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. At the beginning of World War II, she and her friend Katie Schell moved to California to work in the ship building industry. She married Lester “Chick” Olson on February 26, 1977, and moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa. They enjoyed playing golf. She loved to play bridge and was an accomplished china painter. She was a member of the World Organization of China Painters, the Humboldt China Painters, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was active with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Eagle Grove. She enjoyed spending time with her “Iowa family,” Scott and Teri Fritcher, and their three girls, Megan, Katelyn, and Cassidy.
