EAGLE GROVE — Millie Arlene Iehl, the daughter of George and Mahala (Gatliff) Babcock, was born February 14, 1927, in Wright County, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Eagle Grove High School with the class of 1945. On December 28, 1945, Millie was united in marriage with Norman D. Iehl at Dows, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Millie worked for Grahams Department Store, Dr. J.C. Erlander and Dr. John A. Gazaway at Broadway Vision Clinic as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Wesleyan Circle, served as President of the American Legion Auxiliary and was active with the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Millie enjoyed sewing, crocheting and embroidery.

Millie passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Wright Medical Center in Clarion at the age 80 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters, Marie Brauman, Mae Johnson, Mildred Babcock and infant sister, Beverly Jean Babcock; and one brother, Marvin Babcock. Survivors include her son, Bruce Iehl of Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Nancy McCollough and husband Brian of Stafford, VA, and Cynthia Denger and husband Marion of Dows; four grandchildren, Mathew, Christopher, and Megan McCollough and Robert Denger; sisters, Doris Ernst and husband Eugene of Humboldt, Alice Hill of Humboldt; Brothers, LeRoy Babcock and wife Helen of Eagle Grove, Lou “Bub” Babcock of Glendale, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Mary K. Green officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
