PAXTON, IL - Paul Edwin Clingenpeel, 79, of Paxton, formerly of Clarion, Iowa, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 27, 2001) at the Ford County Nursing Home, Paxton. Graveside services will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Hamilton-Orr Funeral Home, Hoopeston, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Clingenpeel was born Sept. 17, 1922, at Bringhurst, Ind., a son of John and Cletus Wilson Clingenpeel. He married Bessie Zeck on Dec. 25, 1945. She preceded him in death. He then married Freeda Patricia Atwood in 1971. She preceded him in death. Surviving are 11 children, Deanna Warren, Jenny Shoufler and Bill and Patrick Clingenpeel, all of Hoopeston, Elizabeth Longest of Milford, Susie Lane of Sheldon, Paula Misner of Paxton, Terry Imundi of Clermont, Fla., Jeff Clingenpeel of Lawrenceville, Clydette Krueger McCann and Phillip Clingenpeel, both of Clarion, Iowa; a brother of Flora, Ind.; three sisters of Flora, Ind.; 30 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a great-grandson.

Mr. Clingenpeel was raised in Flora, Ind. He was in the Air Force for many years, and was later employed by the state of Washington. He had lived with one of his daughters in Clarion, Iowa, for 3 years and had recently moved to Paxton. He enjoyed bingo and playing cards.
