Mrs. Gertrude C. Larson, 85, of 103 Main St., Hellertown, Pennsylvania formerly of Eagle Grove, Iowa, died Sunday in Mary Ellen Nursing Home, Hellertown. She was the widow of Edward O. Larson. Born in Eagle Grove, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Caroline (Sadler) Schlader. She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Hellertown.

Surviving are a son, Thomas R., of Bloomingdale, Ill., two daughters, B. Joan, wife of Robert Gilbert of Miami, and Mrs. Donna C. Murphy, with whom she resided; 17 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

Private services will be in the Templeton-Heintzelman Funeral Home, 326 Main St., Hellertown, with continued services in Eagle Grove.

Gertrude C. Larson, the daughter of Matthew and Caroline Sadler Schlader, was born on Dec. 1, 1899, at Eagle Grove. She grew up in Eagle Grove and graduated from the Sacred Heart Schools. For a few years, she was employed at the Times-Gazette and later at the Princess Theater.

On Dec. 31, 1920, she was united in marriage with Edward Olaf Larson of Eagle Grove at the Sacred Heart Church and to this union were born three children. The family lived in Eagle Grove where Mr. Larson was a mail carrier for many years. He died in 1974. Gertrude continued to live in Eagle Grove until three years ago when she moved to Hellertown, Penn. to be near her daughter.

She died early Sunday morning, June 9, 1985 at the Mary Ellen Nursing Home in Hellertown at the age of 85 years, six months and eight days. She was a long time member of the Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove and attended St. Theresa's Church in Hellertown; was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Eagle Grove; was a past member of the East-West Bridge Club and the A Sharp Music Group in Eagle Grove, and was active in other clubs and organizations of the church and community.

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Donna C. Murphy of Hellertown, Penn. and B. Joan, Mrs. Robert Gilbert, of Miami, Fla.; a son, Thomas R. Larson of Bloomingdale, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and other relatives and
friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Raymond, Fred and Tony, and a sister, Clara Haskin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude C. Larson, 85, of Hellertown, Penn. and formerly of Eagle Grove, were held Friday, June 14, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Fr. Paul R. Peters, church pastor, officiating. Burial was in the family lot at Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Thursday with the Catholic Daughters Rosary service being held at 4 p.m. and the parish scripture service at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
