PONTIAC -- Gladys Mae Rutherford, 78, of the Evenglow Lodge for the past 2 1/2 years, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Tjardes Health Care Center.

Born July 23, 1921, in Chenoa to Lester J. and Minnie Mae Roszhart Miller, she married George C. Rutherford on Oct. 22, 1940, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He died in 1971. Two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death. Surviving are one son, Ron (and Thelma) of Bloomington; one daughter, Marsha (and Jeff) Vergler of Pekin; two sisters, Opal Bressner of Pontiac and Faye Graber of Eureka; one brother, Dale Miller of Chenoa; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was a member of Chenoa Methodist Church. She was co-owner of Cushing Paint and owned Rutherford Wallcovering until retiring in 1994. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home. The Rev. Tony Allen will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Franciscan Hospice of Central Illinois, the Tjardes Health Care Center or to any charity.
