Funeral services for Peter Wagner, 91, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gilberts, with Deacon William Whitehead Jr. officiating. Born Aug. 25, 1909, in Chicago, to Nickolas and Louise (nee Goedert) Wagner, he passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at his son's home in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Elgin. A lifelong farmer, Peter had married Ruth J. Jenzen on June 28, 1947 in Dundee, and they had made their home in Gilberts for their entire married life. Surviving are his children, Peter (Tammy) Wagner of Iowa, Rosemary (Jesse) Stiles of Michigan, Michael Wagner of North Carolina, Joseph (Tara) Wagner of Iowa, Marie (Robert) Domke of Arizona, Edward (Doreen) Wagner of Michigan and Martha (Kevin) Hanson of Minnesota; 28 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Ann LaCrosse of California and Victoria (Edward) Hauser of Des Plaines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, on March 1, 1998; grandson Kevin Stiles; brother, John Wagner; sister Loraine in infancy; and daughter-in-law Mary Wagner. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley.
