ELDORA, Iowa—Lyle Hackbarth, 82, of Eldora, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Hubbard, with the Rev. John Attaway officiating. Lyle Hackbarth will be buried at Hubbard Cemetery. Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard is in charge of the arrangements.
Lyle P. Hackbarth was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Bradford, to LeRoy and Edna (Patzer) Hackbarth of Iowa Falls. He graduated from Dows High School with the class of 1944. On Feb. 19, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lois Blome at the Zion United Church of Christ in Hubbard. They moved to a farm which was five miles north of Hubbard. Lyle farmed most of his life. After Lyle retired, he and Lois moved to Wellsburg, until they became residents of the Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. Lyle passed away Dec. 20, 2007, after suffering from heart disease. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Hubbard.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Lois of Eldora; four children, Bruce Hackbarth of Ames, Brenda and husband Mike Ites of Wellsburg, Beverly and husband Curtis Konrardy of Oswego, Ill., and Brian and wife Kim of Flower Mound, Texas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marge Maupin of Harlan, Kathleen Johnson of Mesa, Ariz., and Pearl Thompson of Roseville, Minn.; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Johnson; and two brothers, Gerald and Kent Hackbarth.
