Evelyn Joyce Doherty, age 73, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Kavanagh Hospice, Des Moines. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 5 at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Chapel, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale, IA.

She was born July 22, 1934 in Galt, IA to Harry and Mabel Peyton. She worked and retired from Hy-Vee Foods. She was a very devoted wife and sister, and was loved by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Doherty; sisters, Doris, Lois, and Connie; brother, Melvin and their families. She will also be missed by her special four-legged friend, Mitzy. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Merlin; and two sisters, Maxine and Vivian. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kavanagh Hospice on 56th Street.
