ALEXANDER-Edna Alice Peil, 75, of Alexander, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services were Dec. 27 at the First Reformed Church in Alexander, with burial in the Alexander Cemetery. Officiating the service was Rev. Robert Ford.

Edna was born May 31, 1925, in Vilmar, to Charles and Bavina Franken Wiebke. She received her education in rural Butler County schools. On Oct. 15, 1946, she married Willard Peil in Vilmar. Edna worked as a nurse's aid at the Belmond Care Center and was active in the women's church group. She was a 4-H leader and helped at the Franklin County Fair 4-H food stand. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Alexander.

Survivors include two daughters, Polliann Carlson of Bussey, and Barbara and her husband, Britton Christensen, of Ackley; two sons, Charles and his wife, Jean, of Belmond, and Loran of Alexander; two sisters, Lois Koester of Allison, and Edith Kolthoff of New Hampton; a brother Clifford Wiebke of Nashua; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter-in-law; a son-in-law; a brother; a sister; and two siblings in infancy.
