Russell A. Pals, 76, of Clear Lake, died on Tuesday April 24, 2001, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 26, at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.
Russell, was born on November 8, 1924 in Meservey, the son of Charles K. and Kate (Barkema) Pals. He attended school in Meservey. Russell married Mary McCarthy on November 20, 1965 in Clear Lake. Russell worked with his brother, Stanley in Thornton, operating a corn sheller and hauling livestock until 1969. He then worked for Beck Excavating in Clear Lake and then worked for Yohn's Ready Mix, Clear Lake for 15 years, retiring in 1995 due to health. He enjoyed working on his cars.
Russell is survived by his wife, Mary Pals of Clear Lake; two children, Sarah Belsky and her husband, Randy of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Rustin Pals and his wife, Sandy "Bratrud" of Mason City; one sister, Marcele Kottman of Thornton; sisters-in-law, Berniece Pals of Thornton and Minnie Pals of Belmond; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Stanley and Raymond Pals; and three sisters, Tena Hillmann, Ruth Syverson and Margaret Hake.
