MERRILL, Iowa -- Gladys M. Williams, 84, of Merrill died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa. The body was cremated and there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Gladys M. Williams was born June 12, 1920, in Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Johnson) Giffrow. She grew up on a farm near Akron, Iowa, and had lived in the Sioux City and Merrill areas since 1937. She married Donald G. Williams on Sept. 20, 1941, in South Sioux City. Mr. Williams died Dec. 21, 1962, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She worked as a waitress at several places in Sioux City and retired from Floyd Valley Packing Co. in 1983. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 77.

Survivors include a sister, Lillian Mohlmann and her husband, George of Merrill; a sister-in-law, Marcia Giffrow; a brother-in-law, Harold Nelson; four nephews, Mike Nelson, Ronald Mohlmann, Darwin and Rusty Giffrow and other nephews in Minnesota; three nieces, Karen Mafnas, Donna Johnson and LeeAnn Shever and other nieces in Minnesota; and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Margaret Nelson, Lucille Scansen, Myrtle DeYeager and Dorothy Meinjohans; and three brothers, Harvey, Harry and Fred Giffrow.
