December 15, 1966Harry M. Stanbery Dies at Home
Harry M. Stanbery, 82, died unexpectedly Friday morning at his home in Clarion after suffering an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held at 2 P. M. Sunday at the Eyler Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin Milan of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were Alvin Jacobson, Melvin Peterson, Leslie Hartsock, Donald Hocraffer, Leo Rasmussen and Harold E. Smith. "How Great Thou Art," and "Good Morning Up There" were sung by Carl Weitmon.
Harry Mortimor Stanbery was born November 8,1884 at Kimball, South Dakota. He passed away Friday, December 9, 1966 at his home in Clarion, Iowa. He was one of two children born to William C. and Harriet Stanbery. Attending school in Clarion, he graduated from Clarion high school. Mr. Stanbery began writing insurance at an early age, then for a number of years operated a Retail Grocery, then for over 35 years a Retail Shoe Store. He then concentrated on his insurance business in which he was actively engaged at the time of his death. In 1914 he married Ruth Campbell of Clarion and this year the couple celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Three children were born to this marriage, Harriet and Ross Stanbery of Clarion and Dr. William Stanbery of Iowa Falls. He became a member of the Christian Church at an early age.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, three children; Harriet, Ross and Bill, and one granddaughter, Becky. Those attending from out of town were Dr. and Mrs. William Stanbery and Becky of Iowa Falls; Mrs. Raymond James Venier, Mason City; Mrs. George Jackson, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Grover Chisme, Cylinder; Kenneth Wright, Rolfe; Mrs. Edith Wright, Rolfe; Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher, Whittemore and Mr. and Mrs. James Wright and family, Nevada, Iowa.
Our heartfelt thanks for the beautiful cards, memorials, flowers, food and thanks to the ladies who served our dinner and lunch. We appreciate the thoughtfulness of our neighbors and friends during our recent sorrow. May God Bless you all.
