LORIMOR, MISSOURI - Douglas W. White Sr., 57, most recently of Lorimor, a native of Belmond, died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack on Saturday (Dec. 8, 2007) at his home in rural Lorimor. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at the Osceola Assembly of God, 801 N. Fillmore Ave., in Osceola, with Pastor Chuck DeVos officiating. Burial will be at noon on Thursday at the White-Woolery Cemetery, Climax Springs, Mo. Vistation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. today at the Osceola Assembly of God and continue from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
Douglas Wayne White Sr., the son of Robert and Evelyn Tiggeman, was born on Feb. 10, 1950, at Belmond. He spent most of his early years in the Belmond area. Douglas was united in marriage to Jonelle Ann Wagner on Sept. 14, 1968. Their union was blessed with six children, Douglas Wayne Jr., Donnell Ann, Joann Love, Joan Henri, Jackie Deann, and Charity Faith. The couple later divorced. Douglas Sr. later married Roberta "Bobbi" Burns on Aug. 13, 1994. The couple made their home in various places over the years following their marriage, most recently on their acreage in rural Lorimor. For most of his life, Douglas drove semis, long distance hauling throughout the United States. He had driven for himself and for many different transportation companies during his career. His occupations carried him on countless journeys and millions of miles of roadways as he traveled the countryside.
Doug enjoyed times spent with Jonelle and later Bobbi and the rest of his family when he was able to take time off from the road. He looked forward to gatherings with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whether it was times at the holidays, a camping excursion, a trip to the fair, or just simply spending precious time together. He, along with many in the family, looked forward to an afternoon sing-along accompanied by family members playing the guitar and banjo. Musical talent was a special trait in many of the White family members. Douglas also looked forward to spending time out in the pasture, working his teams of horses. His favorites were the Belgians. He also enjoyed times spent attending services and other functions at the Osceola Assembly of God. Doug was always up for a good movie, a good conversation, and the fellowship shared around a good meal. The road kept him away from his family for extended periods, but he did his best to keep in contact and abreast of the happenings at home. In more recent years, his trucking had slowed a little as his health declined and made it more challenging to meet the physical demands of the road.
Douglas Sr. is survived by and will be truly missed in the lives of his wife, Bobbi; his son, Douglas White Jr., and wife, Brenda, and their children, Eric, Johanna, Tristan, Trevor, Joey, and Kiera, of Mason City; daughters, Donnell Ann Buerckley and husband David and their children, Taylor, Layne, and Bailey, of Collins, Joann Love Salazar and her children, Keegen, Jada, Jesenia, of South Jefferson, S.D., Joan Henri White, of Des Moines, and her son, Kyler Rae-Love Hartson, Jackie Dean Schmidt and husband, Raymond, and their son Alex, of Wahiawa, Hawaii; Charity Faith White and her sons Benjamin, of Kanawha, and Blake Charles Gradoville; a step-son, Brian Burns, of Camdenton, Mo.; his brothers, Keith Robert Tiggemann and wife of Linn Creek, Mo., and Scott Robert Tuey and wife of Clever, Mo.; his sisters, Rebecca Love Smith and husband of Roach, Mo., Yavonne Evelyn Henthorne and husband, of Edwards, Mo., Lana Lynn Pottoroff, of Climax Springs, Mo., Renee Antoinette Patton, of Climax Springs, Mo., and Lawana Starr Miller and husband of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
