A Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth E. Larick, 79, of Waukon, formerly of West Union, was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Schneider on Thursday, Oct. 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. Burial with military graveside rites was in Wexford Cemetery, rural Lansing. Casket bearers were Mark Halverson, Terry Mooney, Kyle Mara, Don Kruse, Bruce Kubitz and Dennis Miller. Arrangements were handled by Martin Funeral Home, Waukon. Kenny died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
Kenneth Eugene "Kenny" Larick was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Eagle Grove. He was the son of William and Clara (Stockdale) Larick. Kenny was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Dodge and confirmed at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union. After his graduation from Eagle Grove High School in 1945, Kenny served in the U.S. Air Force from 1946-1949. On Sept. 15, 1951, he married Gertrude Nolan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Dodge. The Laricks moved to West Union, where Kenny worked for The Fayette County Union as a foreman in the print shop for 20 years and farmed in the West Union area. Kenny and Gert moved to Waukon eight years ago. They have farmed in the Waukon area for the past 25 years. While living in West Union, Kenny was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church; after moving to Waukon, he became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Joan Wagner. Kenny is survived by his wife, Gert, of Waukon; his children Bill (Laura Downing) Larick of Anchorage, Alaska, Bob (Sheila Schultz) Larick of Alexandria, Va., and Paula Frengle of Waukon; three grandchildren; and a sister, Margurite (Edward) Donnely of Webster City.
