Patricia “Pat” A. Wellendorf, 66, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, November 04, 2007, at Trinity Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Somsen, Chaplain of Trinity Regional Medical Center, officiating. Following the services it was Pat’s wishes to be cremated and private graveside services will be held at a later date. Visitation will be after 4:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include- son- Jeff Slaikeu of Goldfield; daughter- Debbie Slaikeu of Des Moines; her mother and step-father- Jean and Ken Kunert of Humboldt; sisters- Diane (Ray) Kunert of Humboldt, Sandy (Ken) Pride of Humboldt, Sue (Darryl) Wilson of Boone, Paula (Allen) Myers of Humboldt, and Pam Kunert of Iowa City; nieces- Kyndra Johnson, Shanda, Megan, and Rebecca Myers; and nephews- Randy Kunert and Brad Peltz. She was preceded in death by her father Howard Jack Laing; a nephew- Dana Peltz; and a niece Darci Peltz.

Patricia Ann Laing was born on December 12, 1940, in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Humboldt where she graduated from Humboldt High School. Following her education she was united in marriage to Paul Slaikeu and the couple established their home on a farm near Gotch Park. The couple then moved to Goldfield where they continued to farm. The couple was later divorced. Pat was then united in marriage to Monte Wellendorf and the couple established their home in Goldfield where they operated an antique store. They were later divorced. Pat was employed with the Rural Electric Company in different areas of the state and retired from Mid American Energy in Fort Dodge. Pat’s family and friends were most important to her; and she enjoyed gardening, baking, crafts, and her beloved pets. Memorials may be left to Hospice of Fort Dodge or to the Humane Society of Central Iowa.
