ROCKWELL CITY — Dean M. Hoyt 83, passed away Wed., Oct. 24, 2007 at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Rev. Marcia Sangel officiating. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home in Rockwell City. Dean is survived by his wife Lois; daughter Cindy Peiffer (Duane) of Fonda; sons, Marty Hoyt (Peg) of Davenport, David Hoyt (Renee) of Eldora, and Tm Hoyt (Libby) of Rockwell City; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister Bonnie Mason (G.O.) of Bella Vista, AR. He was preceded in death by his sons, Steven and Thomas Hoyt; parents, Roy E. and Martha L. Safley Hoyt; and brother Lyle Hoyt. Dean Martin Hoyt was born Oct. 19, 1924 at Gowrie. He graduated from Jolley High School with the Class of 1943. Dean served in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. On Aug. 3, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lois Milam at Lohrville. The couple farmed in the Woolstock area and later the Jolley area until 1963. Dean then worked for the Calhoun County Maintenance for nineteen years until retiring in 1986. Dean was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion, and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and woodworking.
