Former Resident Burled at Hampton

Those attending the funeral service for Maggie Switzer in Hampton last Tuesday wore: Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bailey, Mrs. Clarence Lindsey, Clifford Steffens, Miss Nora Shafer, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hansen and Mrs. Herman Tulp. Mrs. Switzer was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Jennings, was born Jan, 23, 1862, and died Feb. 6 at the Arends nursing home in Hampton. She was joined in marriage to Carl Steffens in 1909. They lived in this community for a period of years before moving to Grand Rapids, Minn., where her husband died in 1932. She was married later to Nels Switzer, who died in 1941. For the past 13 years Mrs. Switzer has been bedfast having spent the last three years in the Arends Nursing home in Hampton. While living in the Rowan vicinity she had a large class in music and was very much loved by her pupils. The funeral service was held last Tuesday In the Green Funeral home in Hampton with burial beside her parents in Rowan Graceland cemetery.
