A Fort Dodge woman was killed and her husband injured in a single car accident Wednesday in Boone County. It happened around 4:30 in the afternoon on County Road R-18. The Iowa State Patrol says 80-year old Joseph Pebbles was driving a Chrysler Concord North when the car veered into the ditch. Pebbles was transported to a local hospital; his wife, Betty Lou, died at the scene. Investigators say when the car went into the ditch, it hit a farm field entrance which acted like a ramp, sending the car airborne. The car came down on its rear corner and flipped over on its top. Joseph Pebbles is in intensive care at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
