EAGLE GROVE — Dawn Anne (Nichols) Steil, the daughter of Dean C. and Theresa M. (Case) Nichols, was born on October 9, 1950, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1968. On June 14, 1969, Dawn was united in marriage with Clem Steil in Eagle Grove. Dawn was employed with W. Ken Stoakes Accounting of Goldfield for 20 years. In 1999, she retired due to Multiple Sclerosis. Dawn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a former member of the Eagle Grove Women’s Bowling Association. Dawn passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at the age of 56 years, after fighting a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clarence and Mabel Case and Frank and Gladys Nichols; two nieces, Jennifer Clark and De Anne Johnson and her husband Daniel and a great-nephew, Andrew Johnson. Survivors include her husband, Clement W. Steil of Eagle Grove; daughter, Anna Foster and husband Rodney of Eagle Grove; three sons, Michael Steil and wife Audrey of Grimes, Loren Steil and Alisha Loux of Eagle Grove and Brian Steil and Tioni Loux of Eagle Grove; grandchildren: Clayton Foster, Kearra Steil, Paige Steil, Emily Foster, Braxton Steil, Calli Steil and Chloe Steil; parents, Dean C. Nichols of Vincent and Theresa M. Nichols of Fort Dodge; sisters, Susan Nichols of Eagle Grove, Marian Strayer and husband Nathan of Klemme, Barbara Jergenson and husband Willis of Kanawha and Gale Draves and husband Larry of Clarion and a brother, Michael D. Nichols of Savannah, Georgia.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Chris Podhajsky officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
