Mrs. Petra Rolland, 63, Dies; Funeral Monday

Eagle Grove— Mrs. Petra Rolland, 63, housewife, died Thursday, at her residence on North Montgomery street. Funeral services were to be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Kubitschek & Kastler funeral parlors, and at 2 p. m. at the East Side Lutheran church in charge of the Rev. T. J. Severtson, pastor of the church, and burial was to: be in Rose Hill cemetery. Mrs. Holland was born in Bergen, Norway, and had lived in Iowa at her late residence for 42 years. She is survived by the husband Andrew Rolland, one daughter in Eagle Grove and one son in the service.

Petra Andrea Kvamme was born to the parents, Johannes Anderson Kvamme and his wife Bertha, Jan. 9, 1880, at Arne Factory near Bergen, Norway, and died at her home, Eagle Grove, Iowa, Dec. 16, 1943, age 63 years 11 months and 7 days.

She received the Christian baptism February 22, the year of her birth, was taught the way of salvation in Jesus, and confessed her Christian faith on the 30th of September, 1894.

On April 27, 1901 she was united in marriage to Andrew Rolland. Soon after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Rolland came to America, to Eagle Grove, Iowa where they lived until 1915, when they moved to Rockford, Ill., returning to Eagle Grove again in 1921, which has since been their home. Mr. Rolland has been employed by C. N. & W. Railroad.

She is now survived by her husband and three children, Mrs. Mabel Baker of Eagle Grove; Arthur Rolland, Rockford, Ill.; and Burdette Rolland, serving in the armed forces of our country. She is also survived by six grandchildren and by one sister, Mrs. Bertha Rolland, Eagle Grove.

Mrs. Rolland was a kind wife and mother, a friendly neighbor. For many years she has suffered from a gradually declining health. She bore her sufferings patiently and cheerfully. She seemed to find comfort and help in her New Testament which was constantly within her reach. She appreciated the ministry of the word brought to her. She was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical church.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 29 from the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
