Services at Eagle Grove for Mrs. Hobbet, 98

EAGLE GROVE — Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church for Mrs. Hannah Hobbet, 98, who died at her home Oct. 26. The Rev. Kenneth R. Torvik was the officiating pastor. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. The Kastler Funeral Home was in charge of the services. Mrs. Hobbet had been in failing health for a number of years and more seriously ill since she had undergone surgery during the summer. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Anne Ganong, who has made her home here with her mother the past 10 years, and Mrs. Selma Carlson, Jamestown, N. Y.; and one son, Carl Hobbet, Wheaton, Ill.; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hobbett was born in Nordreland's Parish, Prestegjeld, Norway, Oct. 8, 1859, and was the next to the youngest of 14 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Ole Berg. She was educated and confirmed in Norway and came to Waukon in 1901 after her mother's death. On Feb. 9, 1907, she was married to Ole 0. Hobbett, Eagle Grove, and came to Eagle Grove to live, taking care of his five children by a former marriage. Mrs. Hobbett's death was just 18 days after her 98th birthday. She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her children there are seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
